Cum Laude graduate Susannah DaRosa and CIDA’s founding Directors grimly display their grad rings
Another First For CIDA City Campus
Since its inception CIDA City Campus has stood out as being unorthodox and pioneering. At CIDAs inaugural graduation they added yet another first to a long list of innovations. Twelve of CIDA's top academic achievers were awarded solid gold signet rings. The rings carry the graduate's degrees and their year of graduation and are crowned with the CIDA emblem.
The rings have only recently been made available to South African Universities by Serica, a local empowerment company focussed on creating employment and beneficiating South African raw materials.
In line with CIDAs philosophy of providing financial support to every deserving student the rings have been funded by local businesses. Adcorp Flexible Staffing Solutions, BHP Billiton and 21st Century Pay Solutions have all contributed towards the cost of the rings.
CIDA is one of the first Universities in Africa to institute the graduation ring program and is the first to award the rings for academic excellence.
In a separate ceremony after the graduation the four founding directors of CIDA Taddy Blecher, Themb'nkosi Mhlongo, Richard Peyke and Mburu Gitonga) were awarded similar rings.
